Closing Date: 26th July 2019

Newport is a vibrant city with a bold vision to maintain a place where people choose to live, work and stay. Newport City Council’s success can be attributed to forward thinking, a positive approach and the Council aims to deliver high-quality services that are continuously improving.

You will hold a relevant degree or diploma and ideally have experience in an environmental health role. This post requires you to demonstrate effective communication and negotiation skills; be able to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with people. You will also have an ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines.

We are pleased to offer a permanent post in our team which deals with a diverse range of issues including housing conditions, statutory nuisance and public health in urban private rented accommodation, RSL properties and also owner occupied homes. We have a successful Additional HMO Licensing Scheme that is nearly in its third term and the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 (Rent Smart Wales - landlord licensing) has added a new dimension to the work of this team.

It is clear that we can offer a wide range of experience and challenges to the successful applicant.

In return for your commitment, we offer an open, friendly working environment with modern working practices and systems. Benefits include a generous annual leave entitlement, professional development, flexible and agile working and free on-site parking.
