More about the role:

Central Bedfordshire Council are looking for two new Team Leaders to work within their busy Private Sector Housing Team. The successful candidates will both lead a team that is driven to improve the quality of housing for our residents in Central Bedfordshire. A key part of an effective Housing Service, the Private Sector Team tackles poor standards of housing through a range of enforcement and assistance activities, meeting the Council's duties and helping make Central Bedfordshire a great place to live. The role is for someone wanting to find their greatness and make a positive difference for our residents through the provision of great services.

You will support the Private Sector Housing Manager in driving forward innovative and creative initiatives that reflect the Council’s priorities and values, whilst leading an operational team that provide a wide range of services. You will work collaboratively across the Council and in partnership with a range of external stakeholders, in particular private landlords, contractors, and residents. You will have good problem-solving skills, good communication, an ability to work under pressure, and good technical and legal expertise on private sector housing issues. You will have good financial awareness and a focus on ensuring good performance and outcomes.

The role requires a Degree or equivalent qualification, or in-depth experience of key job responsibilities and competencies. You will need to demonstrate evidence of personal development and leadership, with a management qualification or training. Further training will be provided to develop leadership skills aligned to the Council's vision and values. It is key that the role holder works well as part of the Housing Solutions management team and wider Housing Service management group. The role requires the use of a range of appropriate skills, the need to inspire others, show patience, listen and guide, but also to be clear and direct when required, for example when there are risks to health and safety. The role will require some multi-tasking and a flexible approach to meeting demands.
