The council is set in a major tourism area with tourist attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse and with the Royal Family on the doorstep, this is a good place to live and work. There are excellent transport connections to London and the West of England, with the new Elizabeth Line opening in Maidenhead in 2019.

The role is full time, however consideration will be given to candidates requesting part time hours.

This is an exciting opportunity to come and work for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead in a challenging and busy Residential Services team.

On a journey to transform the Residential Services team, we have an opportunity to recruit talented and ambitious people to create a high performing team ensuring that resident’s health, safety and welfare is safeguarded and protected.

We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated people to provide advice and assistance to members of the public, stakeholders and local businesses, investigating customer’s requests, queries and complaints.

You will enforce all relevant housing and environmental health and associated legislation.

The role will be varied, covering an interesting workload and all aspects of private sector housing, public health investigations including pest, drainage and filthy and verminous, caravan site licensing and mandatory and discretionary grant aid including disabled facility grants.

You will be investigating customer requests and complaints, assessing dwellings and the application of the housing health and safety rating system (HHSRS). You will be encouraged and supported to take enforcement activity to achieve compliance with the legislation.

As part of the Council’s ambitious plans there will also be a focus on the implementation and extension of the HMO licensing regime, proactive and reactive HMO inspections and addressing the current housing cases known to the service.

If you are able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, be able to organise and prioritise your own workload, have good IT skills, work well as part of a team and are keen to make a difference, we would like to hear from you. In return we provide a real commitment to personal development and growth.

You will possess a degree in an environmental health, housing or building discipline (or an equivalent qualification) and have proven experience of environmental health and housing work. EHORB registration and voting membership of the CIEH are desirable but not essential.

A full driving licence and use of a car is essential.
