Our client in South London is recruiting for a Private Sector Housing Manager to start asap.

 

Duties

 

  1. To lead and develop the overall strategic and operational management of the Private Rented Property Licensing and Planning Enforcement Team To supply the Head of Regulatory Services and other managers with relevant information and reports as necessary. I.e. Statistic, performance, legal papers, case reports, Opinion on case law. To be responsible for the management of the service, planning the service in accordance with service plans, forward plans and service objectives. To carry out regular audits on service provision ensuring officers are compliant with current and relevant legislation, council policy and procedure. To assess the impact of legislative or administrative changes affecting the service, and respond proactively to implement changes. Carry out regular competency testing with officers, implement corrective action and identify and recommend potential improvements. To liaise with other professional services where a multi-disciplinary approach to problems is required and take a pro active approach to problem-solving. To manage the Mandatory Licensing elements of the business and ensure we are compliant in respect of licensing of mandatory and additional licensing. To ensure they are taking appropriate enforcement action as necessary including court action where necessary. Address enquiries and complaints, work with individual landlords, and landlord groups to ensure high quality services are delivered. Ensure that staff assigned (directly and indirectly), understand the priorities, objectives and policies of the Council, Department and Division and are able to successfully implement decisions.

 

 

Requirements

 

  1. Diploma/B Sc degree in Environmental Health Minimum 3 years experience in Housing working either with a local authority or Registered Social Landlord Minimum 1 year's staff management experience Hold a relevant degree or professional qualification (HHSRS). Good knowledge of legislation, policy, procedures and practices in relation to private sector housing Good knowledge of the theory and practice of building construction Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills. Able to analyse technical and financial information and make sound judgements Able to produce clear, concise and persuasive written reports on complex issues. Well developed and wide- ranging negotiating and problem solving skills. Able to manage and prioritise own workload, and work as part of a team Able to produce work of a high standard within tight deadlines Excellent IT and keyboard skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office.
