The five existing councils of Buckinghamshire – Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern, South Bucks and Wycombe District Councils and Buckinghamshire County Council - are developing plans to create a new unitary council, Buckinghamshire Council, by 1st April 2020. This is an exciting opportunity for all the councils in the county to come together to build a brand new council for Buckinghamshire, that will provide all council services in the county, and will build on the best experience and expertise of the five current councils. We are developing plans to build a new unitary council that is ambitious in its outlook, provides Buckinghamshire residents with simpler ways to access services that they need, and makes best use of public money.

We are looking for an Environmental Health Technical Officer / Environmental Health Officer / Senior Environmental Health Officer who is committed to providing an excellent service and can make a positive and proactive contribution to our busy Public Protection Team.

As an EH Technical Officer / EHO / SEHO you will be competent in Environmental Health with particular knowledge and experience in nuisance, responding to consultations and public health.

However, if you are suitably qualified to do so, service demands may require you to undertake commercial inspections and enforcement as the need arises. You would also be expected to take a lead role in undertaking investigations and regulatory interventions and to take prosecutions as necessary.

Ideally you will be educated to a degree level or equivalent with a professional qualification in Environmental Health, and be a voting Member of the CIEH and hold the EHORB qualification.  However applications are also welcome from both newly qualified Environmental Health Officers and from those who have yet to complete the PPP or gain EHRB registration.

Grading will be dependent upon experience and skill level. For an informal chat please contact Ian Snudden (Principal EHO) on 01494 732058.
