Job description and person specification

We are excited to recruit an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our food and health & safety team.

Applicants will require a recognised degree, diploma in Environmental Health or Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection and a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Registration Board.

Work areas include food safety, animal licensing, skin piercing registrations, H & S, infectious disease control and public health work, which involves attending community events.

We are a small team and take pride in the work we deliver; the successful candidate will be qualified within environmental health and be driven to assist the team in delivering an excellent service within our communities.

You should possess excellent communication skills and have experience in managing a busy caseload with a strong track record of performance. The ability to offer accurate, concise technical advice is essential.

The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative and have excellent organisational skills. Our officers have a passion to make a big difference to public health and business/consumer confidence in the Chesterfield borough.

You should be Food Safety Competent and able to meet the requirements listed in Section 4 of the Food Law Code of Practice (England) April 2018 for an ‘Authorised Officer.
