It is exciting news that the Food and Health and Safety Team at Manchester Council is expanding to ensure that it continues to provide the highest level of protection to the public. We want to further strengthen our approach to food hygiene but also grow our focus on allergen controls, food standards, health and safety at work and supporting business. We therefore require 5 additional Environmental Health Officer’s (EHOs) to join the team.

So if you need a new challenge in a vibrant and diverse city that is moving forward and driven to achieve success then these opportunities would be perfect for you.

You will be responsible for a busy and varied workload in a friendly and supportive team, focusing on inspection programmes, responding to service requests, undertaking investigations and sampling. You will work across food hygiene, food standards and health and safety disciplines and full training and development routes will be provided. There may also be future opportunities to undertake Food Safety duties at our busy Border Inspection Post located within Manchester Airport. This rota work attracts a 6.7% flexibility payment and essential car allowance.

Candidates must be EHRB registered and have met the requirements of the food competency framework but exceptional newly qualified EHOs will be considered equally for the role.

We are an organisation looking to build on your strengths, offering an individual development pathway to help you achieve your aspirations. Have a look at ‘Our People’ strategy and the principles of ‘Our Manchester’ approach by clicking here.

We operate highly flexible working arrangements including flexitime, home working, optional office bases across the city, no core hours and compressed working options to enable you to effectively manage your work life balance.

You will need to be highly motivated, flexible and committed to personal development. If you have the required qualities and skills and are an excellent communicator then we want to hear from you.

If you would like an informal discussion about these roles, please contact s.brown5@manchester.gov.uk
