There are many benefits of working at Cambridge City Council these include flexible working, a healthy learning and development programme and a health and wellbeing programme for all staff.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to join the Residential Team, although we will welcome applications from fully qualified Senior Technical Officers with experience in this field.

Undertaking a range of duties you will be responsible for basic investigations and inspections along with managing complaints.  You will handle complex cases around private sector housing including environmental protection relating to private dwellings in accordance with legislation and service policy. In this job role you will actively contribute to the Public Health Agenda.

In addition to this, you will be responsible for the removal of hazards arising from- repair, amenity, overcrowding, fire safety, and energy related matters as well as dealing with harassment and the threat of illegal eviction.

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will join us with a relevant Environmental Health degree (or equivalent) and Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board with experience in this field.

As a Senior Technical Officer you will join us with at least a relevant technical qualification such as the ABBE Certificate in diagnosing defects and ordering repairs or equivalent in surveying, building inspection or another related field and in terms of a desirable technical qualification we are looking for a certificate of competency under HHSRS.
