Overview of the job.

As part of the Public Protection service area, you will provide a range of regulatory and enabling functions that affect the daily lives of people living, working and relaxing in Ipswich. The service is aimed at protecting and improving public health, the local environment and quality of life. The service brings together teams who play a highly visible role across the Council.

Day to day.

You would be responsible for leading and managing the Private Sector Housing team who are responsible for all private sector housing functions including enforcement in the private rented sector, HMOs, licensing HMOs and caravan sites, empty homes and grants for disrepair and disabled adaptations. You would be responsible for setting and managing work programmes including specialist projects and managing budgets.

About you.

You will have a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health, be registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board and be a member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). You will have had recent experience of working in local government or a similar organisation and have the ability to provide detailed technical advice to customers and other service areas.
