Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2020

Our Environmental Protection Team is seeking a Manager on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2020. This post reports to, and deputises for, the head of service.

We would like to hear from exceptional candidates with broad pollution control experience and a can-do attitude who think laterally when solving problems.

The environmental protection team is a busy service and the team manager needs to organise and lead the team to meet service demand effectively and deal diplomatically with a wide range of issues. The team covers work including air quality, planning consultations, environmental permitting, land contamination, noise and vibration and light pollution.

The team manager will need to be capable of managing a team that provides a wide range of technical consultancy, environmental regulation and services to improve the quality of the natural and built environment throughout the borough.

You will participate and lead on projects to improve local air quality and play a vital role to ensure that the negative impact of major development, regeneration and infrastructure projects schemes are minimised, and that the borough maintains the best possible environment for its residents and businesses.

You will provide specialist advice and support to colleagues across the Council and to members of the public and be capable of leading on work with other agencies and services. This position requires you to manage, direct and develop a team of professional and technical staff. This will include monitoring performance, preparing and presenting reports as required, and implementing changes in service delivery as necessary.

In return for your skills and professionalism we offer the chance to work in a thriving team with varied professional challenges. You will need to be highly motivated and enthusiastic with a genuine commitment to achieve.

A full UK driving licence and a suitable vehicle for council duties is required.

The successful candidate will be eligible to take part in the Council's flexible working arrangements

The Closing date for the post is 24th June 2019
