Food Safety / Health & Safety Consultant

Based in the spa town of Malvern and established since 2007, Saeker Consulting Ltd (formerly Leisuresafe Ltd) is a provider of health and safety, food safety and fire safety consultancy support services and compliance software to clients throughout the UK. Our client base includes hotel groups, holiday parks, high street restaurant chains and other businesses within the leisure and hospitality sector. We have a reputation for providing high quality technical support, cutting-edge software and great customer service. Continued growth of the business has provided an exciting opportunity for a consultant to join our established team.

The role:

The consultant will be responsible for providing a range of services to clients throughout the UK. Reporting to the managing director, the main duties will include the following:

  • Ensuring that the agreed range of services are delivered to allocated clients;
  • Carrying out detailed high-quality food safety, health and safety and fire safety audits;
  • Providing competent advice and guidance on food safety, health and safety and fire safety matters to clients via our telephone/email helpline and in person as required;
  • Supporting clients with the use of our compliance software and contributing to the development of new features;
  • Delivering accredited and non-accredited health and safety and food safety training; and
  • Contributing towards the development of policies and guidance etc.

The consultant will be the main contact for allocated clients and will be responsible for managing and developing the client relationship on a day to day basis.

The role is field based with regular visits to client premises involving overnight stays.

The Person:

We are looking for a consultant with the following personal qualities:

  • A keen eye for detail and an enquiring mind who will research technical challenges to provide the best advice;
  • Someone who enjoys a varied workload and who is a hard-working, self-motivated, honest and trustworthy;
  • Someone with excellent communication, report writing and time management abilities; and
  • Someone who can manage their own diary and be flexible in order to respond to clients’ needs, sometimes at short notice.

Skills and Qualifications:

The following skills are considered essential to the role:

  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • Good keyboard skills, proficient with Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to competently adapt to the use of a variety of software solutions;
  • An excellent level of up to date knowledge of Food Safety and Health & Safety legislation.
  • A full driving licence.

In addition to a good general level of education the consultant will be:

  • An EHRB registered environmental health practitioner; or
  • IOSH chartered safety and health practitioner with a minimum of a level 4 food safety qualification. Applicants with Grad IOSH working towards CMIOSH will be considered, especially if they have consultancy experience in the relevant sector.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has at least 2 years post qualification consultancy experience in the leisure and hospitality sector.

The Salary & Benefits Package:

The salary range begins at £35,000.00 but the starting salary will be dependent on qualifications, skills, experience and personal qualities. The right candidate can expect a competitive salary and benefits package including a company car.
