Horsham District Council is looking for a qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Protection Team, in the Environmental Health and Licensing department. The department is responsible for all aspects of pollution control including environmental permitting, nuisance, air quality and contaminated land.

As Environmental Health Officer you will help deliver a full range of Environmental Health regulatory functions with a focus on environmental protection, including investigating all types of statutory nuisance, drainage and reviewing planning and licensing consultations. There will also be the opportunity to assist with environmental permitting, local air quality management and contaminated land duties.

To succeed you will be able to work flexibly in a demanding and reactive environment as part of a team. You will have excellent communication, IT, analytical, and technical skills, with a common-sense approach to the job. The job involves travel throughout the District, so a full driving licence is required.

We encourage and support professional development. The minimum requirement for this role is a relevant qualification in Environmental Health to degree level or equivalent. This is a career graded post with renumeration in line with your appropriate qualifications and experience.  Appropriate training opportunities will be given to work towards an EHORB certificate of registration or Chartered status.

Horsham is a forward-thinking authority committed to delivering high quality responsive and strategic services through a well-trained and motivated workforce.  We work from a modern office building in Horsham Town centre and offer a generous benefits package to support your work life balance.

Those applicants invited for interview may be asked to complete a Thomas International Personal Profile Analysis prior to interview.
