Environmental Health Service
Hambleton District Council
Hambleton District Council is seeking to recruit two officers to join the Environmental Health Service, a Commercial Team Leader and a Scientific Officer.
The Environmental Health Service is based in Civic Centre, Northallerton, where there is free car parking and located next to the Council’s recently refurbished leisure centre.
Successful candidates must have a full Driving Licence, access to a car and be able to work out of hours from time to time.
Commercial Team Leader
Salary £38,227 Grade 14
Full Time 37 hours

You will be responsible for managing a team of four Environmental Health Officers to deliver a range of functions including the enforcement of food hygiene and health and safety laws, the safety of private water supplies, licensing of activities for the purpose of animal welfare, and infectious disease control.
Applications are invited from candidates who are qualified Environmental Health Officers with relevant experience, particularly in food law enforcement as you will be the Council’s Lead Food Officer. Experience in leading a team at supervisory or managerial level is desired.

Scientific Officer
Salary £35,136 Grade 13

Working in the Residential Team, your duties will include environmental permitting, air quality management, contaminated land and responding to development control consultations and service requests.
Applications are invited from candidates who have a Degree in a relevant subject and preferably have suitable experience of dealing with air quality, environmental permitting and contaminated land in a local government setting.
