Based at: Dutton House, Runcorn, Cheshire
Job details: 35 Hours, Full time, Permanent
Manchester Port Health Authority are looking to recruit two officers (1 x Port Health Officer and 1 x Senior Port Health Officer) to join our small team based in Runcorn, Cheshire.
The Authority is responsible for undertaking the Port Health function for over 50 miles of waterway on the Manchester Ship Canal and River Weaver. Responsibilities of the Authority include: Ship inspection, imported food control, infectious disease control, water quality monitoring, environmental protection, pest control, waste management and civil contingency planning.
The successful candidates will have a degree in Environmental Health and hold a certificate of registration from the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (applications for the post of Port Health Officer will be considered from those nearing completion of professional qualifications). They will be motivated by the challenge of a varied workload, have the ability to exercise good judgement and have excellent communication skills.
Officers will be expected to take part in a 24/7 standby/call out arrangement, for which extra remuneration will be payable.
