ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER/ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OFFICER

£25,260- £41,772 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience) plus standby payment

North Hertfordshire is a great place to either start your environmental health career or build on experiences that you have already had. The Council has a clear vision for the area, which is making North Hertfordshire a vibrant place for people to live, work and prosper. The Environmental Health Service plays an important part in delivering this vision.

We are looking to fill a post in our Environmental Protection and Housing Team. The role will focus primarily on responding to planning and licensing consultations, the investigation of nuisances, housing and public health complaints, empty homes work and HMO inspections. We also have responsibilities for a number of major events in the district, including festivals at Knebworth Park. You will be required to participate on the noise call-out rota which currently operates at the weekends during the months of April to September.

You must have a recognised qualification in Environmental Health and hold the EHRB Certificate of Registration or be committed to achieving the Certificate of Registration with six months of appointment. We particularly welcome applications from those who have relevant knowledge and experience particularly in respect of responding to planning and licensing consultations and nuisance investigations,  excellent communication skills and the enthusiasm for and commitment to making a difference in North Hertfordshire.

We can offer you an excellent benefits package including partial homeworking, a pension scheme, generous leave allowance, flexi-time, leisure concessions and more.

To apply for this position you must complete the Council's online application form at www.north-herts.gov.uk under the Jobs and Careers page using our secure web recruitment tool.  Please note that we do not accept CV applications, either on their own or accompanying application forms. Therefore please ensure that all relevant information is provided on the application form.

As a Council committed to equality and diversity we welcome applications from all sections of the community.  All full time posts are open to Job Share unless otherwise stated.  Disabled people who meet the person specification will be guaranteed an interview.

If you would like an informal chat about the post, you can contact Peter Carey, Environmental Health Manager, on 01462 474861.

Closing Date: Noon 04/06/2019

Interviews 27/06/2019 and 28/06/2019
