ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER - TWO POSTS

Salary details: £32029 - £34788

Hull City Council has two exciting opportunities for Environmental Health Officers working across the spectrum of dwelling types in the city.  The Private Housing Environmental Health team has obtained additional funding and is undertaking a number of projects proactively inspecting properties occupied by vulnerable tenants. Hull City Council is working with a range of partners in order to proactively tackle some of the poorest housing conditions across the city.  We are looking to employ two enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Health Officers to join the council’s  Private Housing Environmental Health Team.  We would welcome applications from newly qualified or experienced candidates. The post will include inspecting private residential dwellings, scoring hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, preparing schedules of works, giving advice to tenants and landlords in order to improving housing conditions. This could involve using all of the tools available including statutory notices, empty dwelling management orders, licensing, prosecution and financial penalty orders.

Previous experience in Private Housing would be desirable but not essential.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills including negotiation and presentation are essential.

Applicants will have a degree or similar appropriate qualification in Environmental Health and will have been issued with, or will be working towards obtaining, a certificate of registration from the Environmental Health Registration Board.
