An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Environmental Health Officer to join the Environmental Protection Team within the Council's Housing & Public Protection Service.

As part of the Team, you will effectively inspect local authority permitted industrial sites, respond to planning consultations, implement the Contaminated Land Strategy, regulate private water supplies through risk assessment and improvement interventions, monitor air quality across the County, respond to a variety of environmental complaints, service requests and enquiries, taking necessary enforcement action to improve environmental standards and protect public health.

The successful candidate will possess a relevant qualification in Environmental Health to degree standard or equivalent, have an EHORB certificate of registration, and significant post qualification experience.

You will be an excellent team player and possess competency in dealing with complex routine and proactive casework. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including IT skills are essential.

The post is based at Cramlington but involves travel throughout the County so you must be able to meet the transport requirements, having a full clean driving licence.

Applicants will be subject to a DBS check.
