Our client in South London is currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Environmental Health Officer, Surveyor or Housing Grants Officer to start asap.

 

Duties

 

Carry out inspections of dwellings and advise on methods of repairs and adaptation and to provide technical advice to the Housing Grants and HIA Team to assist in their program of encouraging owner-occupiers and private tenants to apply for repair and disabled facilities grants.

 

Carry out site and property surveys, investigate product data, prepare sketch schemes and scaled full working drawings. Submit all documentation to gain any necessary permissions/ consents under the Town and Country Planning Acts and/or The Building Regulations and any other statutory approvals. Prepare full working specifications, schedules of work, carry out tender procedures, obtain competitive builders’ estimates and provide a supporting report on the most suitable contractor.

 

Issue all relevant contract documentation and exercise efficient cost control throughout the running of each contract. Carry out supervision of all works. Agree timetable and program of works with contractors.

 

You will have responsibility to manage the processing of DFG, with the main proportion of your time focused on DFG work.

 

You will be required to respond to all work requests from members of the public and others associated with our client’s provision of Disabled Facilities grants.

 

Ultimately you will serve to determine grant / loan eligibility and manage the process end to end. Your remit will include scrutinising of plans, estimates and all paperwork associated with the formal application and carrying out the calculation of the assistance in accordance with national legislation and policy requirements.

 

The role will be suited to those from an environmental health or surveying background but it is absolutely essential that you have an excellent working knowledge of the DFG process, previous work experience in the field is a must.

 

Experience in using AUTOCAD is essential for this role
