Role Purpose
Tower Hamlets is a fascinating borough, a multi-cultural community steeped in history. The contrasts and challenges in Environmental Health are vast.
The Health and Housing Team works with landlords and tenants to provide safe and secure housing within the Borough. Over one third of the total Housing stock is within the private rented sector.
The Team are responsible for carrying out Housing standards, licensing and public health inspections.

The role of this post is to manage the selective licensing scheme which is within three wards of the Borough.
This post is ideal for those that are seeking a managerial role, being able to lead and have experience in a range housing interventions.
The post will support the Team Leader in providing a holistic housing function across Environmental Health and Trading Standards.
We are able to offer structured training opportunities (CPD), excellent salaries an additional car user allowance, advisory and enforcement work and a minimum of 6 weeks paid leave a year
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in managing the Selective Licensing area, providing intervention strategies to ensure compliance with Environmental Health legislation and improving the private rented sector.
You will be expected to be self-motivated and appreciate the Council's wider agenda on issues that impact the local environment.
The Council aims to work with landlords and partners to improve the housing stock and provide safe living conditions for renters.
Requirements
You will need to be ready for your first supervisory role and have a good understanding of housing regulation.
