Islington council are preparing to introduce Borough wide additional HMO licensing and partial selective licensing and are looking for someone to join our Property Licensing team.

We are an inner London Borough where areas of considerable wealth and considerable deprivation co-exist, with proportions of rented properties in excess of the national average and widespread disrepair and poor management.

You will work independently, using your knowledge and experience to investigate unlicensed HMOs and properties, process licence applications, carry out inspections, remove hazards and use enforcement powers to contribute to contribute to improving housing conditions in the private rented sector and ensuring access to decent accommodation for all tenants.

You will work with a range of partners such as the Fire Brigade, Police and Trading Standards and will have a range of enforcement tools at your disposal including notices, civil penalty notices, interim management orders and prosecutions.
