Environmental Health Officer
26 Hours per week
£29,055 to £31,401 pro rata
We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible Environmental Health Officer to work in our Environmental Protection Team for 26 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-moving environment as a result of major projects such as Hinkley Point C, the related National Grid Connection Project and Gravity (East Huntspill Energy Park), in addition to numerous other major developments.
The Environmental Health Service undertakes a range of traditional Environmental Health (EH) duties but the services remit also includes a number of non EH functions such as civil contingencies and land drainage.
The role includes undertaking all pollution control duties, including statutory nuisance, air quality, environmental permitting, contaminated land, private water supplies, planning and licensing consultations. We are committed to using the full range of our traditional powers either informally or with enforcement where necessary including the newer anti- social behaviour powers. We are a friendly and collaborative team and aim to develop knowledge on the full range of pollution control duties.
Ideally the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in environmental protection work, such as nuisance, contaminated land, environmental permitting, pest control, dog control and drainage. Additional experience in any of the non-EH functions listed above would be advantage.
You will be required to take part in the Environmental Health out of hours rota
The post attracts an essential user car allowance and payment of professional fees.
