Buckingham Futures have an exciting project in the East of England for Environmental Health Officers / Higher Certificate Technical Officers to undertake inspections of 350 category C - E food premises inspections from 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020 (NB - our client will consider splitting the project and will consider officers who could commit to a minimum of 50 inspections).

 

Although the focus is food inspections of Cat C to E, however, our client would expect basic checks to be completed on licences and also reporting matters of evident concern in other areas whilst carrying out the inspection.

 

Questionnaires to Cat E premises will be issued by our client, however, some inspections of Cat E premises would be needed in certain circumstances (for example, if questionnaires are not returned )

 

Project Scope

  • Carry out food hygiene inspections of businesses risk rated category C & D in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice
  • Undertake partial inspections of category E businesses
  • Complete relevant inspection proformas for businesses rated category C & D
  • Complete relevant inspection proformas for businesses rated category E
  • Risk rate the food businesses following inspection
  • Determine a Food Hygiene Rating score in accordance with the ‘Brand Standard’ for those businesses included within the scheme criteria
  • Ensuring food businesses registrations are up to date. If not, completion of registration form during inspection or, if impractical, registration form left for completion and return
  • Health and Safety – to report matters of evident concern to the Council or HSE as appropriate.
  • Licensing compliance - to report matters of evident concern or queries to the Council and carry out basic checks (on a proforma) covering matters such as:

- Whether alcohol is on sale,

 

- Whether Premises is selling hot food/refreshment between 23:00 and 05:00am

 

- The details of the DPS and Licensee,

 

- Display of the licence summary

 

- Licencing permissions are being followed

 

Inspecting officer must hold one of the baseline qualifications, and have associated registration. The base line qualifications are Higher Certificate in Food Control or certificate of registration or Diploma issued by Environmental Health Registration Board.

 

The Inspecting Officer must be able to demonstrate how they are capable of meeting the competencies relating to Inspection of Food Establishments (Cluster 4.) and hold 10 CPD hours on core food matters directly related to the delivery of official controls and 10 hours on other professional matters. This could include training needs identified by the Lead Food Officer during competency assessments/appraisals as specified in the current version of the Food Law Code of Practice and Practice Guidance.

 

A copy of relevant qualifications, CPD certificates and certificates of registration with EHORB/EHRB must be held on file by Buckingham Futures before the contract commences.
