Our client,  Local Authority client in West London is recruiting for multiple Environmental Health Officers within their Food and Occupational Health & Safety Team to enforce and administer Environmental Health legislation to maintain and improve conditions within the Borough and to maintain specialist technical knowledge and professional skills in food hygiene, health & safety and infectious disease control.

 

37 hours a week but the client is flexible for the right individual

 

6 month contract

 

£38 per hour

 

Main duties, tasks and responsibilities of post holder

 

 Conducting the food hygiene programme for commercial premises in accordance with the Councils’ Service Plan and the Food Standard Agency’s requirements.

 

 Carrying out Health & Safety project work, advisory work and enforcement where required, in accordance with the Councils’ policies and Health and Safety Executive guidance.

 

 To represent the Councils at enforcement and other liaison meetings and to give professional advice and guidance to officers from other departments, other public bodies, commercial, industrial and voluntary organisations.

 

 To inspect the district and borough both systematically and at intervals as occasion requires, ascertaining the circumstances of the district and identifying matters requiring attention.

 

 Receiving and investigating complaints from food businesses, regulatory bodies, employees and members of the public; regarding unfit food, infectious disease, food poisoning outbreaks, food premises, refuse, odor, accidents, working conditions.

 

 Food and environmental sampling and analysis, food alerts.

 

 To investigate thoroughly complaints and other environmental health matters referred to the post and to carry out those routine duties as may be assigned to the post.

 

 To provide professional/ technical expertise through the assessment of planning, building control and licensing applications, representation at Licensing and Planning Committees.

 

 Advise on the design of commercial kitchens, food safety and health and safety matters for food businesses.

 

 Advise other regulatory bodies on food safety and health and safety. To assist in the drafting of relevant departmental protocols and procedures

 

Inspecting officers must hold one of the baseline qualifications, and have associated registration. The base line qualifications are Higher Certificate in Food Control or certificate of registration or Diploma issued by Environmental Health Registration Board.

 

The Inspecting Officer must be able to demonstrate how they are capable of meeting the competencies relating to Inspection of Food Establishments (Cluster 4.) and have at least 10 hours of Food Core CPD as specified in the current version of the Food Law Code of Practice and Practice Guidance.

 

A copy of relevant qualifications, CPD certificates and certificates of registration with EHORB/EHRB (or equivalent) must be held on file by Buckingham Futures before the contract commences.
