As part of the Public Protection service area, you will provide a range of regulatory and enabling functions that affect the daily lives of people living, working and relaxing in Ipswich. The service is aimed at protecting and improving public health, the local environment and quality of life. The service brings together teams who play a highly visible role across the council.
We are currently seeking an Environmental Health Officer for the Private Sector Housing Team. The role is varied, including duties relating to: enforcement of housing standards, renewal and regeneration, disabled facilities grants and project work to improve private rented sector standards.
You will need excellent communication skills and a commitment to customer care, whilst having the ability to take on a varied caseload and work independently.
We all work together to achieve the very best for our residents which sometimes means getting involved in projects and trying new tasks outside of your day-to-day job role, helping to further your career development.
You will be a strong team player with a positive outlook. We have a strong emphasis on personal development whether through external courses, or internal peer lead training. If you are looking to develop your career Ipswich Borough Council can provide you with excellent opportunities.
Applications are invited from experienced or newly qualified Environmental Health Officers.
You will have a degree or diploma in Environmental Health, be registered with the EHRB and be a member of CIEH Health together with the EHRB certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Officer.
