Principal Environmental Health Officer - Food Safety

As part of the Public Protection service area, you will provide a range of regulatory and enabling functions that affect the daily lives of people living, working and relaxing in Ipswich. The service is aimed at protecting and improving public health, the local environment and quality of life. The service brings together teams who play a highly visible role across the council.
You would be responsible for leading and managing the Food Safety Team who are responsible for all food safety functions including port health. You will be the authorities Lead Food Officer and be able to comply with the competency requirements for Lead Food Officers in section 4.7 of the Food Law Code of Practice.
You will also be responsible for setting and managing work programmes including specialist projects, contract management and managing budgets.
You will have a Degree or a Diploma in Environmental Health, be registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board and be a member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). You will have had recent experience of working in food safety and be up-to-date with local government or a similar organisation and have the ability to provide detailed technical advice to customers and other service areas.
