Environmental Health and Licensing has a strong reputation for its proactive work within Exeter City Council. We have ambitious plans to promote healthy & active lifestyles, tackle congestion, improve accessibility and build great neighbourhoods through an integrated approach with our partners.

We are looking for an enthusiastic full and part time Environmental Health Officer to bring innovation through partnerships and, by utilising regulatory powers to their maximum effect, help improve the thriving business sector in Exeter.

In this field-based role, you’ll be undertaking a wide range of investigations in relation to business regulation throughout the city; you’ll assist with the inspection of premises for food and health and safety, give professional advice and deal with complaints or incidents in areas such as noise, odour, light, waste management and infectious disease control. We are also looking for an individual with experience of delivering training courses in food and health and safety.

You’ll need a BSc/Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and EHRB Certificate of Registration.

It is essential that you have a good level of verbal and written communication skills and that you are computer literate.

Travel to work sites, premises and area offices throughout the city will be required. We are currently undertaking an exciting agile and flexible working project so an individual with a can-do attitude and flexible approach is essential. There will also be some requirement to attend evening meetings and out of hours work can be expected.

For an informal discussion about the post please ring Simon Ruddy on 01392 265790.
