Public Services

Environmental Services Manager

£41,846 to £44,697 plus a market supplement of £2,091

Kettering Borough Council is a great place to work.  There is a positive One Team culture where people feel engaged and their ideas are taken on board to improve services and deliver efficiencies.  We have also recently been re-accredited as an Investor in People.

The Council offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits including: flexible working, good training and development opportunities and the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Environmental Services at Kettering is comprised of two teams - Environmental Protection and Warden Services. These multi-skilled teams provide a range of services including those dealing with air quality, contaminated land, antisocial behaviour and statutory nuisance, community safety, environmental permitting, dog control, pest control, fly-tipping enforcement, abandoned and untaxed vehicles, car park management, and residents parking enforcement.

Public Health information is used to inform how we deliver effective services across the whole of Public Services. Officers have a “can-do” attitude and seek to innovate in dealing with matters such as Anti-social Behaviour, working closely with police and using new powers effectively.

The role will require partnership working with other agencies and local authorities, as well as a willingness to be part of corporate project teams.

We are seeking an inspirational manager who will lead and develop the teams and be a key member of the Public Services’ Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a high quality service, fulfilling statutory duties and delivering projects that improve the environment for our residents.

If you have a proven record of achievement and are able to demonstrate excellent management, organisational and communication skills, and enjoy challenges outside of a more traditional environmental health role then this could well be the job for you.

It is essential that applicants have the following:

  • Ability to use their initiative in resolving problems
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills
  • Flexible, proactive and innovative approach to work
  • Willingness and ability to work outside normal office hours on occasions

Closing Date: midnight on 18th February 2019    Interview date: 28th February 2019

The Council offers an exciting range of benefits.

We actively encourage applications from people from ethnic minorities, and people who perceive themselves to be disabled. This is to address an under representation of these groups.

Kettering Borough Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
