(Trainee Environmental Health Officer: salary scale is £20,541 - £23,866 per annum)

We have two career opportunities for Environmental Health Officers, although we will welcome applications from Senior Technical Officers or Trainee Environmental Health Officers to join the Commercial & Licensing Team to undertake a range of duties.

Food safety will be a key aspect of your varied workload as well as the team covering health & safety, infectious disease control, statutory nuisance, licensed premises and taxi licensing to name a but a few.  You will also be involved in a wide range of investigations and inspections in relation to Commercial activities within the City and supported by your Team colleagues, including both a Principal EHO and Senior Technical Officer(s).

Environmental Health Officer applicants and Senior Technical Officer applicants will already have a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and/ or the Higher Certificate in Food Control with the Food Inspection endorsement and Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board.

Trainee Environmental Health Officer applicants will join us working towards EHORB having already undertaken the relevant qualification and will be committed to fully completing their qualification within a year of appointment

You will join us with the ability to interpret and apply legislation, communicate well at all levels, prepare and write reports and be able to present facts and negotiate in a balanced manner.  As an Environmental Health Officer or Senior Technical Officer you will have experience of working with the public, carrying out investigations and inspections and a more in-depth knowledge of current legislation in food hygiene and health and safety law; licensing knowledge would be a bonus.
