Principal Health and Safety Practitioner

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Health and Safety Team

Ref. RBKC7829

£34,300 - £46,300 plus pay related performance bonus

Permanent, Full Time

London

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is one of the most culturally and economically diverse boroughs in London.  The Royal Borough is less than 5 square miles in area, so you are never far from a famous landmark or a high profile business.   Large scale events include the Notting Hill Carnival and the Chelsea Flower Show.  This diversity presents interesting health and safety challenges as we try to protect our residents, employees and visitors.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Health and Safety Team, for a Principal Practitioner.  Working alongside our established team you’ll provide supervision and support to officers while taking the lead in public safety at events.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of health and safety functions, including arranging and organising Safety Advisory Groups for large scale events, developing and managing intelligence led projects, carrying out health and safety inspections and leading serious incident investigations.

As a qualified, confident and motivated Health and Safety Practitioner you will have the ability to effectively manage complex projects, carry out inspections and audits, review risk assessments and investigate major incidents.

You will have exceptional organisation skills and recent experience of supervising officers as well as managing major incident investigations.  In return we will make a real commitment to ensuring that your career development and training needs are met.

Benefits Include:

Travel allowance equal to zone 1 and 2 annual season ticket after one year’s continuous service with the Council

Generous Annual Leave (30 days, rising to 33 after 10 years Local Authority service)

Staff discounts including free swimming

Local Authority pension scheme

Professional fees paid
