In Private Sector Housing, we do all we can to ensure that people have safe and healthy homes. As a Technical Officer within the housing service you will be supporting the continuous improvement of the private rented sector across Central Bedfordshire. We are looking for a candidate who wants to work within an enforcement, housing, and licensing environment.
The role is both varied and interesting and combines the full range of private sector housing functions, including the licensing of Caravan sites, enforcement of housing standards, HMO licensing, delivers a range of housing grants and loan assistance, and is responsible some public health issues. The team is ambitious and looking to develop the approach with rogue landlords by working collaboratively with a range of professionals in the Council to protect the vulnerable and improve the well-being of all residents. In this position the successful candidate will have a broad caseload and will represent the service in a multidisciplinary team working on a high-level project relating to caravan sites.
To meet the requirements of this exciting role you will need have expertise in licensing of residential caravan sites, knowledge of building construction and must be able to demonstrate experience in the broad range of functions associated with the role, along with detailed knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidance. This should include experience in collating evidence in support of legal proceedings.
Candidates will need to be self-motivated but also able to work effectively as part of a team to bring about desired outcomes. We pride ourselves in providing an excellent customer service and will therefore expect you to be able to contribute to this with strong interpersonal skills.
You will either hold a degree or equivalent in an Environmental Health or related subject, or possess in-depth experience in this area of work, and be able to show continued professional development.
