Two Senior Environmental Health Officers Health Protection

(One Full time (37 hours per week) and One Part Time (18.5 hours per week)

Salary: £29,909 to £33,136, (subject to pay review) plus market supplement of £5000 and essential car user allowance (£1,239 per annum). Pro rata for part time position

We are looking to recruit two Senior Environmental Health Officers, a full time position and a part time position of 18.5 hours per week which will be worked over 2.5 days.

You will join a small, professional and hardworking team who support each other in delivering the team’s food safety, health & safety and infectious disease functions to protect the health and wellbeing of the public.

The role covers extensive and varied subject matter and offers the chance for you to utilise a wide range of skills and knowledge, to manage your own workload, as well as the day to day work of a technician. You will also have the opportunity to lead on a specific category of approved premises and to lead the team in health and safety functions.

The office is located in the beautiful cathedral city of Chichester and much of the district is covered by areas of outstanding natural beauty or the South Downs National Park.

Whilst you will primarily be enforcing legislation relevant to the Health Protection teams remit, there will be a requirement on occasion, to carry out emergency planning and other Environmental Health functions commensurate with your qualifications and experience.

You must have a qualification in Environmental Health and be EHRB registered. Significant health and safety knowledge within a Local Government setting is essential - the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is desirable. Applications will be considered from suitably skilled applicants who hold the Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection and either hold or will be willing to study for the Higher Certificate in Food Control.

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or similar professional body is essential.
