Trainee Environmental Health Practitioner 

Team:  Private Sector Housing 
Salary:  £26,811 to £29,312 per annum, pro rata 
Hours:  37 hours per week 
Base Location:  Watling House, Dunstable 
Contract Type:  Permanent

As a Trainee Officer within the housing service you will supporting the continuous improvement of the private rented sector across Central Bedfordshire. We are looking for a candidate who wants to work within an enforcement, housing and construction environment. The successful person will be building on their existing knowledge of the built environment or other related housing qualification or experience. As part of our Private Sector Housing team, you will receive formal training and a high level of support from all Officers to assist you in obtaining further qualifications, learning the role and providing a quality and effective front-line service. You will learn Enforcement, Licensing of HMO’s and Caravan Sites, Public Health duties and the facilitation of Grants and Loans.  

We are looking for someone who has a BTEC first qualification in Construction or a related vocational area, or an intermediate NVQ in an appropriate vocational area, or GCSE equivalent to four passes (including Maths & English) at Grade C.  We would welcome graduate applicants.  

Do you have strong IT skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities? Perhaps you’ve worked in an Enforcement or Housing related role? Whatever your background, you will want to learn new skills whilst contributing towards a busy expanding service.
