Rossendale Borough Council require an enthusiastic, committed qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHRB registered) to join our multi-disciplinary Public Protection Unit.

Rossendale Borough Council serves a population of approx. 70,000 people in a rural part of Pennine, Lancashire.  The topography means that development is concentrated in valleys and as a result there are large areas of unspoilt countryside, providing leisure and tourism opportunities.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of environmental health disciplines.

Your duties will cover the full range of Environmental Health eg. pollution, food, the investigation of noise and other statutory nuisance, assist with private sector housing inspections, planning applications and the general promotion of public health and safety within the district.

The role will also include the provision of support to the Senior Environmental Health Officers on more complex cases.

The ability to communicate with professionalism and confidence is essential as is the willingness to become involved in the wider policy, customer service and enforcement work of the Council.

Applications from newly qualified officers are welcome.

We are offering prospects for enhancing your knowledge and experience at Rossendale and also with partner organisations.

To make a real difference to protect and improve the health and environment of people in Rossendale by joining our experienced Environmental Health Team you can apply online at www.rossendale.gov.uk or email your name and address, quoting reference number BA1007 to peopleandpolicy@rossendalebc.gov.uk alternatively, telephone People and Policy on 01706 252449.

Closing date:       5.00pm on Monday 10 December 2018        Interview date:  Week commencing 17 December 2018
