Who we are

Here at Kettering Borough Council, we provide a wide range of services to our 100,000 residents and the growing number of businesses based locally. The Public Services Unit covers a wide range of these services including Health and Environmental Protection, Parking Services, Bereavement Services and Community Services.  

Our aim is to support local businesses and to protect and improve the health and wellbeing of people who live, work and visit the Borough of Kettering.

We are part of the County’s Eat Out Eat Well and Best Bar None Award schemes and engage with various local initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of those in the Borough.

Your role

We are looking to recruit a forward-thinking Health Protection Team Leader whose focus will be on supporting and developing a one team approach to deliver excellent quality value for money services across a range of priorities.  You will also be a key player in the Public Service’s management team, supporting the development and implementation of strategies to deliver the service’s business improvement programme.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • have experience and knowledge in the key topic areas of Food Safety, Health and Safety, Licensing and Infectious Diseases
  • have a track record of achievement in your field with a passion for providing customer focussed health protection services. 
  • be able to demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills.
  • be expected to effectively manage and motivate others.

Where you will be working

You will be based at the council offices in Kettering, however, due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the borough by having access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.  There will also be occasions where you will be required to work outside of normal office hours.
