An opportunity has arisen at Bedford Borough Council for an Enforcement Officer within the Commercial Regulation Team, combining work associated to Air Quality Management, Environment Permitting, Contaminated Land and the investigation of statutory Nuisances associated to Commercial Premises.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in an Environmental/Pollution related subject, ideally with a broad range of experience in a similar role. You will need to have excellent communication skills with the ability to present and interact with a range of stakeholders. Experience and skills from working within a similar enforcement role undertaking inspections, investigations, gathering evidence and preparing cases would be advantageous, with training and support provided to develop the skills and specialist technical knowledge where required.

As the successful candidate you must have a positive attitude to change and be keen to work in a busy team providing a customer focused, responsive, risk based professional service. You will be highly motivated and be expected to deliver against a challenging work plan.
