The Environmental Health Team is busy, multi-disciplinary team which covers traditional environmental health areas such as food safety, health and safety, environmental protection, and housing. The Councils licensing function is also included in the Teams remit.

Due to an internal service review a number of exciting opportunities have arisen within the Council’s Environmental Health Team.

Private Sector Housing Liaison Officer

Fixed Term – 2 Years

Grade F: (£26,470 - £29,909) per annum

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced private sector housing professional to join our Environmental Health Team. The successful candidate will have a recent proven track record in private sector housing and will be the Councils lead on private sector housing matters. The role will involve providing support and guidance to Environmental Health Officers and their Teams, particularly in relation to houses in multiple occupation licensing, and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System. A key requirement of the post will be to draft and implement an empty homes strategy and along with our housing team develop closer working partnerships with private sector landlords.

The successful candidate will have recent experience of investigating complaints of poor housing conditions, licensing HMO’s, taking formal and informal action under the Housing Act 2004, and collaborative working with landlords.

This post will be based at the Public Services Centre in Tewkesbury where the Council works alongside the Police, Social Services and the Citizens Advice Bureau to deliver public services to the residents of Tewkesbury Borough.
