Public Safety Officer (Sports Grounds & Event Safety)
Buckingham Futures have an excellent opportunity in West London for a Public Safety Officer (Sports Grounds & Event Safety) to work on an ad hoc basis commencing in 2019 to advise management and venue owners on how best to ensure the safety of spectators attending events there.
An important element of the role is to assist with the preparation of the general safety certificates and to prepare special safety certificates for concerts and sports events.
You will be required to carry out inspections of premises during events to ensure that duty holders are complying with the conditions attached to the safety certificates.
Knowledge and Qualifications:
- A recognised qualification in Sports Ground Safety, Public Safety or Health and Safety and/or substantial experience thereof.
Extensive knowledge of the different types of safety certificates, their purpose and contents. Significant knowledge of relevant legislative controls, enforcement tools and their legal basis; the principles of risk assessment and control, and their proper practical implementation in workplace health and safety, sports grounds safety and other relevant enforcement specialism. Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to undertake proactive as well as ‘during performance’ inspections, investigations, data analysis and review documentation, determine performance, assess potential trends and tackle non-compliance at sports grounds and other venues.
Ability to participate in inspections at height and in confined spaces, to wear the Personal Protective Equipment provided by the council, and to work long hours out of normal working hours, e.g. at concerts. Ability to respond to, and make Representations on, the public safety objective of licence applications as a ‘Responsible Authority’ Possess a high standard of numeracy, literacy and grammatical accuracy. Proven ability to reflect and espouse the organisation’s values through personal actions and behaviours e.g. good work attendance, appropriate attire, professional approach, a clear commitment to customer care, and an understanding of their relevance to the post. Proven ability to manage and prioritise, with minimal intervention, a personal workload and consistently achieve individual work objectives, standards and performance. Proven ability to identify, collate, analyse and use data, measures, evidence and customer feedback to monitor and improve personal performance and outcomes.
