Our client is looking to hire an Interim Operations Manager for their Waste Service Team as the previous post holder has now retired. You will work alongside the Head of Service to manage a waste services division with a headcount of around 40 staff. The scope of operations covers the full range of householder waste collection services with some services such as recycling procured via external third party companies. The service is worth around £1.5m annually.

You will provide leadership in managing Team Leaders supervising teams including refuse collectors, drivers and agency staff. You will have budget responsibility and you will be the key contact point for managing any third party contracts. You will help drive initiatives to improve service delivery and you will be expected to contribute your own ideas on projects to improve efficiency and working practices.

To carry out this role you will need previous managerial experience and knowledge of third party contracts for the type of services mentioned. You will need to be a confident leader with good negotiation skills. You will be someone who can make an impact and contribute ideas based on successful past experience in managing a front line waste services division.

The role is expected to last 3-6 months and we would expect to pay around £40/hr. As the role is covering a vacant post we expect it will be inside IR35. Our client is based in the East Midlands within easy access of the M1.
