Noise Patrol Officer (out of hours)
Our client in the East of England is recruiting for a Noise Patrol Officer (out of hours) to undertake investigation and enforcement of legislation in relation to noise to start asap.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To seize noise making equipment where necessary.
• To carry out inspections of licensed premises where complaints have been received or when requested.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE
Holding or studying towards a recognised Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or
a HND, HNC, BTEC or other qualification in Environmental Health or
a specific noise qualification (MSc/Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control).
Experience of working in an enforcement role.
A knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and its enforcement
Ability to investigate complaints of nuisance, to serve abatement notices and make use of powers under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 or other legislation.
Ability to participate and lead on proactive initiatives for the promotion of the noise service and the prevention of noise problems.
Ability to assess the potential noise impacts of licensed or licensable premises. Identify what is required to prevent public nuisance and to express this in terms of conditions attached to specific licenses and to ask the licensing authority to review an existing license if appropriate.
You should have an Environmental Health degree (or equivalent) and have practical experience in monitoring & handling data.
