Cannock Chase Council is a forward thinking authority planning to meet the key challenges for local government in the coming years.  We are seeking highly motivated, experienced professionals to join the Private Sector Housing Team. The Team is responsible for regulatory functions including housing standards, HMO Licensing and mobile homes sites, together with the Council’s Disabled Facilities Grants programme.


Salary                      £32486.00 - £36379.00 per annum

In both posts you will be given considerable responsibility and expected to make a positive contribution to team outcomes.  Enjoying a varied, challenging case load, working within a supportive team, you will also have the opportunity to make full use of your skills as an EH/Housing Officer and to influence how our work is carried out.  

You must hold a degree or equivalent in Housing/Building Surveying or Environmental Health and, in the case of an EHO, hold a Certificate of Registration from the EHRB.

The successful candidates will need good communication and customer care skills, together with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. The ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues, to work well both in a team and on your own initiative, are also essential, as is a flexible approach to work. Post qualification experience in relevant work areas is also essential for both posts

For the Senior Officer post the applicant must be able to demonstrate significant experience in the field of private sector housing, including experience of delivering Disabled Facilities Grant Schemes, of undertaking inspections, investigations and enforcement duties.

The duties of EHO/Housing Officer post will focus on the investigation of housing standards complaints in single and multi-occupancy dwellings
