Do you want to make Environmental Health at South Ribble great, could you be the person we are looking for? 

We need an enthusiastic officer to join our Environmental Health team which comprises Environmental Protection, Health & Safety, Food Safety and Private Sector Housing enforcement. You will be part of a small, hardworking and enthusiastic team providing a broad range of environmental health services. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Environmental Health Practitioner who is fully qualified and experienced to undertake the full range of Environmental Health interventions, subject to competency requirements. 

You will need to be well organised with strong verbal, written and presentation skills and possess the ability to work to tight deadlines. You must be able to demonstrate your ability and initiative to handle a diverse and competing workload of proactive and reactive demands upon the service. A high level of autonomy is expected. 

The possession of good interpersonal skills will also be necessary as you will be liaising and negotiating with the public, external agents and organisations, Council Members and other Council departments. You should also be able to demonstrate an understanding and awareness of the functions of Local Government organisations, including the different roles of Officers and Members. 

We welcome new ideas, researching and implementing better ways of working. You will be expected to use your knowledge, and experience to challenge and improve our service, and to help shape new procedures and policy. 

You must possess a full driving licence and personal transport and be familiar with IT.
