About Croydon

Croydon hasn’t seen expansion like we are currently experiencing since the 1960s. We’re already well underway with some £5bn of investment that will be completed over the next few years. New offices, new retail, and new homes will provide well-paid jobs and high-quality accommodation for our rapidly growing population.

Croydon is a naturally ambitious council – so we’re looking for inspirational leaders who share our passion for supporting business growth and responding to local needs.

Strong partnerships are the foundation for the future. That’s why we’re constantly looking forward. We need to find creative new ways of working together with other agencies and the private sector to deal with the financial challenges ahead.

Because with growth comes increased demand – but also huge opportunity.

Chances like this only come along once in a generation, and our task, and maybe yours, is to shape a positive future for Croydon’s residents and businesses alike.

About the Role

2 x Technical Officer – Food and Safety

A recent expansion of the Food and Safety Team at Croydon Council has opened up a number of opportunities. We are looking to recruit 2 Technical Officers to support our Environmental Health Practitioners in their day to day work.

We welcome enthusiastic individuals who will be involved in our continuing transformation to create a high performing team that ensures commercial businesses and public events throughout the borough meet the highest possible standards.

The role of the technical officer will involve day to day communication with members of the public, providing advice, investigating complaints and carrying out interventions including sampling in commercial premises.

The successful candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, have experience of food safety, health and safety and public safety inspections or investigations and demonstrate an understanding how the food safety and health and safety law is applied to businesses throughout the borough.

You will hold a full driving licence and be able to provide you own car.  You will be required to work some evenings, weekends and on a flexible basis.

For an informal discussion please call Sara Quinn on 0208 726 6000, extension 64055

Interview Date: W/C 22nd April 2019

Equalities Statement

Croydon Council is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We will be pleased to consider applications from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements.

As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised role.
