GREAT YARMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL

COMMERCIAL TEAM

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER

POST NUMBER: 000165

PERMANENT, BAND 7 (£29,055 - £32,233), 37 HOURS PER WEEK (essential car user)

The Borough of Great Yarmouth is uniquely located in the Broads National Park and boasts 15 miles of sandy beaches, a thriving port serving the oil and gas industries and a diverse multi-cultural population.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is a forward thinking and dynamic Council and we are looking for an Environmental Health Officer for the Commercial Team who can complement the ideas and direction of Environmental Services and contribute to the Council’s strategic objectives.   The Commercial Team is responsible for food safety, health & safety, port health and animal licensing across the Borough.  You will be required to provide technical advice and guidance to the team, local businesses and Councillors on a range of subjects including food safety and infectious diseases.  You will also be required to identify new income generating work and efficiency savings for the team and Environmental Services as a whole.

We are looking for candidates who have a degree or diploma in Environmental Health and are EHRB registered.  A solid knowledge of food and safety legislation is preferential; however, we will consider applications from those with alternative specialisms as these could complement the team.

The Environmental Services team work on occasion, outside normal office hours and you would be expected to partake as required.  You would be expected also to participate in the stand by rota which attracts an additional payment.

If this is an opportunity which interests you and you feel that you could make a positive impact on the Borough, we would really like to hear from you.  For an informal discussion regarding this vacancy please contact Grizelle Britton, Head of Environmental Services on 01493 846413.

The closing date for applications is 28 March 2019.
