Role Purpose
Ealing, known as ‘The Queen of the Suburbs’, is a large outer London Borough covering an area of over 55km2. The Food and Workplace Safety team is responsible for the delivery of official controls at over 3,000 food establishments including large manufacturers, central production kitchens, catering establishments, importers and distributors with food distributed nationally and internationally from our culturally diverse borough.
Working in Ealing you will have the opportunity to really engage with businesses to improve compliance and, where necessary, use the full range of formal enforcement measures. You will also have the opportunity to work with a range of internal and external partners including other Council departments such as Trading Standards, Health and Safety Licensing and Public Health England, Police, Home Office, FSA and others.
The workload is complex and ever changing but for the right candidate provides an exciting opportunity to apply and develop your skills in a fast paced but supportive work environment confident that you are making a positive contribution to the safety of the nation’s food supply.
You should possess excellent communication skills and have experience in managing a busy workload, while being flexible when needed. You should have a recognised degree or diploma in Environmental Health and desirably an EHRB Certificate of Registration or a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner.
This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
