The Challenge

Ealing is one of the most diverse and largest boroughs in London with more than 137,000 residential properties and around 36,000 are rented from private landlords. With more people living in rented properties than ever before we are committed to improving the overall standard of private rented property in the borough.  On 1 January 2017 Ealing Council introduced two property licensing schemes (additional and selective licensing) to assist in driving up standards in the private rented sector.

The Candidate

As team leader you will be responsible for the effective management and development of a team of regulatory service officers delivering property licensing and associated enforcement work. You will also be providing enforcement expertise and support to ensure the delivery of a consistently high quality and cost-effective service that meets inspection, enforcement and performance targets.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a professional level of competency in interpretation and enforcement of complex regulatory legislation. You will have excellent communication skills and be committed to maintaining effective relationships with our key stakeholders/partners.

A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Environmental Health, Trading Standards or Building Studies/Surveying will be required for this role.

This is an exciting time to join Ealing Council and be a part of the property regulation team.

The Benefits

  • flexible working
  • generous annual leave
  • local government pension scheme
  • discounts with local businesses
  • the Council is a member of the ‘Enterprise car club’ scheme, giving you access to vehicles when performing your duties.

This role is subject to Ealing’s enhanced vetting process.
