Environmental Health Officer – Environmental Protection

Permanent Contract; 37 hours per week

£32,029 to £33,799 (from 1 April 2019)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a department that is committed to service delivery and helping to shape the future of the district. This role will suit an experienced Environmental Health Officer, with excellent communication skills, who is confident in dealing with the public, carrying out investigations and drafting reports. You will also be able to prioritise and organise your own workload and have good IT skills.

The role involves carrying out inspections and investigations to verify and ensure compliance with Acts, Orders, and Regulations including nuisance, noise control, air quality, water pollution, drainage problems and private water supplies.

Candidates must have a Level 6 or higher qualification with a thorough understanding and knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulatory framework as well as comprehensive theoretical, practical and technical knowledge of a wide range of environmental health issues.  In addition you will be registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, maintaining your CPD requirements.  A Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent in Acoustics is also desirable.

A relocation package of up to £5125 is available, as is an essential car user allowance.
