The role

Oxford City Council is a forward thinking, innovative Local Authority looking for a dynamic, experienced and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to join our demanding HMO Enforcement Team.   Well known for its proactive approach to enforcing conditions in the Private Rented Sector, our team use their full range of skills in an effective and innovative way to secure improvements for residents in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) throughout the City.

We are looking for two experienced Environmental Health Officers to join the HMO Enforcement Team who are self-motivated, adaptable and flexible in their approach and continually want to develop themselves. One role is permanent; the other is a 6 month fixed term contract. The roles are demanding and will require you to take responsibility for a varied caseload, with a high level of professionalism. We offer an excellent opportunity for the right candidates to help Oxford City Council make a difference in a wide range of environmental issues. Working with other services within the Council you will help deliver an effective joined up Regulatory service by dealing with HMO enforcement issues and carrying out investigations. The permanent role is a career graded opening with integrated training and development opportunities.
