Environmental Health Officer
Starting Salary: £47,410 per annum inclusive of Inner London Weighting
Fixed-term contract: 12 months

Maintaining and enhancing the City of London’s environment is both a pleasure and a challenge. We also have important residential areas like the Barbican and balancing the needs of everyone and helping to secure the ongoing success and wellbeing of our communities is at the heart of what we do – and that’s where you come in.
We are inviting applications from enthusiastic Environmental Health Practitioners looking to enhance their experience in the heart of London. We are looking for people who can engage with our communities and businesses and have a real passion for improving the environment and public health.
The placement is based in the Commercial Environmental Health Team, work will focus on the delivery of official food controls, but the successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain or enhance their experience in other areas of the team’s work.
ACTIVITIES
You will contribute to the delivery of a full range of Commercial Environmental Health activities but centred around the delivery of official food controls.
As an authorised officer you will manage and deliver food hygiene and standards inspections, demonstrating you have the required skills, applying the necessary behaviours and building on the knowledge, experience and skills you have already acquired.
The post-holders will be based principally in the Public Protection Division, occasional work could be required elsewhere including at our Port Health Service and with partner organisations to complete defined project work and/or to further your competencies and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
We can only interview applicants who hold the necessary baseline qualification and who have the certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner or who are awaiting the results of their final professional interview. Applicants should have relevant competency in the delivery of official food controls (within the meaning of the Food Law Code)
You should be able to communicate effectively, prioritise and organise your workload both case work and project work.
You will need computer skills for Microsoft office suite and training will be given for other specialist computer systems
