Environmental Health Officer (Housing)

Contract - Permanent

Hours - 37 hours per week

Salary / pay - £31,401 - £33,136

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive Environmental Health Officer to join the Council’s hard-working Housing team which is committed to service delivery and helping to shape the future of the district.

The role covers all areas of housing strategy, regulation and delivery, is both challenging and varied and will include working on a wide range of statutory functions including:

• The identification, inspection and enforcement of Houses in Multiple Occupation.

• Taking lead responsibility for the production of the Council's Housing Renewal policy.

• Ensuring the delivery of Empty Property Assistance.

• Undertaking enforcement action on unsatisfactory housing.

• The application of the Housing, Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)

You will hold a level 6 (degree) qualification (or equivalent) in Environmental Health and have excellent knowledge and relevant experience of the areas outlined above. Your drive , motivation, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work independently and build effective working relationships at all levels.

There is a requirement for regular travel and to effectively fulfil this requirement you must be able to travel independently around the District. An essential car user allowance of up to £963 is available.
