Amber Valley is an attractive area on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is close to the thriving cities of Nottingham and Derby. The borough has a vibrant mix of urban and rural areas, with 5 market towns and multiple industrial estate sites linked to the M1 corridor. A wide variety of businesses are in the area, which provides interesting and varied work and professional challenges.

We are looking for enthusiastic professionals who enjoy a challenge and can think creatively to identify new approaches and solutions to delivering services.

You should be a motivated team player with good communication skills and be capable of meeting individual targets, along with having the relevant experience and competencies as required by the Code of Practice Competency Matrix.

Your responsibilities will include a full range of food and health and safety enforcement work including planned inspections, accidents, complaints, infectious disease investigations and providing advice and support to local businesses and the public. You will also be involved in licensing for animal health and skin piercing registrations etc.

Candidates will have:

  • either a degree or MSc in Environmental Health or The Higher Certificate in Food Control with Endorsements 
  • a certificate of registration with EHRB
  • the range of competencies as defined in the FSA, Code of Practice - 4.8
  • and a current full driving licence

Starting salary will be dependent on experience and competencies.
